Local photographer Brian Smith, of Gable-End Photography, used a display of his photos to underline the basic principles of photography, offering his audience at Montrose Library useful snippets on the art.
It was an ideal opportunity for keen enthusiasts to learn from someone whose photographs are well-known, having been on sale in the library through his photo notelets.
Brian emphasised that it was not necessary to own an expensive camera to take good shots. The “most important camera you have is the one with you at any time,” he said. The question and answer session which followed showed that many of his audience had a more than passing interest in the subject.
