A toy store worker from Montrose caught with a sickening haul of child abuse images was today facing jail.

Steven Duncan was snared when police working on a tip-off raided the home he shared with his parents and siblings.

They found hundreds of indecent images of young girls stored on two hard drives.

Fiscal depute Eilidh Robertson told Dundee Sheriff Court today (Tuesday, August 16): “At the time of this offence he was employed in a toy shop.

“A search warrant was executed at his address he shares with his parents and two brothers.

“A number of computer items were seized and examined.

“Two hard drivers found in his bedroom contained indecent images.

“On one seven videos and 211 still images were found and on another there were 243 indecent images.

“The run time of the videos came to one hour and six minutes.

“They all depicted female children aged between 10 and 16.”

Duncan, 29, of Market Street, Montrose, pleaded guilty to downloading indecent images of children between May 22, 2009 and June 10, 2014 at his home address.

Craig Scott, defending, said: “He is aware that he will be made subject of the registration requirements.”

Sheriff Alastair Carmichael deferred sentence until next month for social work background reports and released Duncan on bail in the meantime.

He said: “If you fail to co-operate with the reports being prepared then that’s a breach of bail, which is a separate criminal offence.”
