Letham man named as victim of fatal Angus crash

A motorcyclist who died after a collision with a car on an Angus road at the weekend has been named.

He has been identified by police as 56-year-old James Donald from Letham.

Mr Donald’s Triumph machine was involved in a collision with a Hyundai Tucson on the B9113 Forfar to Montrose road near Fledmyre Quarry at around 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon (April 9).

A Tayside Division spokesperson said: “Police Scotland can confirm that a motorcyclist who died following a road traffic collision with a Hyundai Tucson SUV on the B9113 Forfar to Montrose Road on Sunday, April 9, has been formally identified.

“He has been named as 56-year-old James Donald from Letham, Angus.

“As with all sudden deaths, a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

Three occupants of the Hyundai car were taken to hospital and were released after treatment for minor injuries.

The road was closed in both directions on Sunday to allow for investigations into the circumstances and was reopened at around 10.30pm.

Police officers are appealing for witnesses who may have been travelling on the B9113 and who may have seen either of the vehicles prior to the collision.
