The large congregation of travellers who flocked to Montrose for a Christian festival have been dispersing since early this morning.
Less than 10 caravans remained at lunch time today (Thursday, May 21) on the East Links.
More than 50 caravans, and a large blue and white tent, were on the site at its biggest as travellers headed to the area, near Montrose Golf Links, for an evangelical event organised by Light and Life Gypsy Church.
Claire Penman, company secretary at Montrose Golf Links, said: “Quite a number left this morning from around 9am.
“It’s not having any impact on play on the Medal course or the Broomfield course.
“A couple of holes on the pitch and putt were affected.
“The marquee was removed either last night or first thing this morning.”
Their arrival caused a number of complaints from Montrosians.
The Review understands that Angus Council monitored this situation before delivering an eviction notice when the planned event was revealed as no permission had been granted for it.
