The Angus Citizens’ Advice Bureau is asking local people to get involved as volunteer board members of volunteer general advisers.
There is a particular need in Arbroath and Montrose.
Angus CAB is governed by a management board which is made up of local people from all walks of life. The Board meets every three months.
Mairi Buchanan said: “It’s a very exciting opportunity – particularly at this time when the charity is so busy, and when most people agree that our work has never been more crucial. As a Board member, you take responsibility for running the service. We make decisions about the organisation’s finances, policy, staffing and overall direction. It’s very important work and an exciting opportunity for anyone.”
“We really hope people will come forward and take up this opportunity. Angus CAB is a community organisation, and this is your community. We need your help to make our service as strong and representative as it can be.”
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer board member should contact firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
“We are proud to play a vital role in this community – with Welfare Reforms beginning to take hold we are seeing an increase of a third in benefit enquiries alone. Our current team has managed this workload superbly but with the welfare reforms gathering pace, demand will continue to rise.”
