Nine residents of Montrose went out in the sunshine on Saturday to fill the four empty flowerbeds in Deans Park, near the town’s sports centre, with winter pansies.

They came together as a result of letters and flyers from Michael Robinson and Margaret Robertson of the town’s community council.

The planting was headed up by John Smith, whose expertise and experience were greatly appreciated as the work progressed on the beds.

During a break, Madison’s at Montrose Sports Centre gave the volunteers the much needed boost of a cup of coffee

Three members of Montrose Community Council were present; Michael Robinson, Margaret Robertson and Ashley Havens, who was co-opted on to the committee at the Annual General Meeting. Other volunteers were Louise and Gordon McArthur , Olive Brodie , John Smith, Gabriella Havens, Ashley’s daughter, and Pam Robinson.

The community council thanked the volunteers and Madisons for the coffee.

There’s still more planting to be done. If you are interested in helping get in touch with Michael on 01674 958905 or by e-mailing him at mrj_robinson@yahoo.co.uk .

There will be a coffee morning, on Saturday (November 15) at 10.30 a.m. at Montrose Tennis Club to raise funds for flowers in the burgh.
