The Glenesk Folk Museum takes part in Scotland’s Festival of Museums with ‘Hearth and Home’, on Friday, May 15 at 7 pm.
Museum curator Maria MacDonell said: “We are delighted that the children of Tarfside and Lethnot Primary Schools are presenting ‘When Fairies Glide’, an enchanting short play written in 1957 for Tarfside School, by Helen Cruickshank.
“She was a significant figure in Scottish 20th century literature and was brought up in Montrose and loved the glen, visiting all through her childhood and as an adult. It’s really special that this lovely play is going to be performed here again.
“It is all written in rhyming couplets and the children are bringing it to life after a very long time. This a rare chance to see it, for perhaps the last time for many decades.”
The Glenesk Folk Museum is also pleased to be welcoming-well known local song writer and performer Andy Shanks who is inspired by Glenesk on frequent visits.
Tickets are £7 including stovies, with 12s-and-under £2. It is possible to book in advance by phoning the Retreat on 01356 648 070 or emailing email@example.com.
All ticket sales will go towards the upkeep of the Glenesk Folk Museum at the Retreat visitor centre. Maria added: “The bar will be open and the museum too, on what is sure to be a beautiful evening! All in all it’s an event not to be missed.”
