Montrose Playhouse Project is hosting a ‘M’Oscars’ night, and with only three weeks to go we have teamed up with them offer one lucky reader a pair of tickets.
The event on Saturday, October 31 will be the Playhouse Project’s first major fundraising event.
Montrose Town Hall will be transformed into a glittering Oscars style ballroom where a night of music, entertainment, games, an auction and raffle will take place to raise money for the Project, which aims to build a cinema and cultural arts centre in Montrose for the benefit of the town, Angus and lower Aberdeenshire.
The theme for the night is dress fancy, not fancy dress.
Ross Thomson, teacher at Montrose Academy and commentator at Montrose Football Club, will be M.C. for the night.
Local band Peyton Place fronted by the well-known Tomlinson brothers and friends will play.
Local stand-up comedian Scott Forbes, described by the Evening Express as a young Billy Connolly, and guest Gary Meikle, who recently won best new comer at the Scottish Comedy Awards, will be providing some laughs during the night.
Emma and Gillian from Fairytale Design’s will be dressing the tables and chairs in the hall to completely transform them, while a delicious buffet dinner will be waiting for you by Marshall Wilkie design. The drinks will be flowing at the cash bar provided by Kevin and Alison Young from the The Golf Inn.
A dedicated cocktail lounge with movie themed drinks will be provided by Elements Cocktail Company of Arbroath.
David Paton, vice chairman of Montrose Playhouse Project, said: “We are delighted that Wayne Hall and Scott Duncan will be on hand to photograph you in your best gladrags, and perhaps with some well-known faces.
“We have been overwhelmed with the generosity of local businesses who have donated so many amazing raffle and auction items, including designer furniture, golf lessons in Montrose and Edzell, salon vouchers, cinema tickets, restaurant vouchers, a video message from ‘Frozen’s’ Elsa or Anna, jewellery, some top electrical items, weekend breaks and even a signed pennant by Aberdeen FC Captain Ryan Jack. Basically something for everyone.
“We are actively seeking donations and if you would like to donate a raffle prize or auction lot, or even to sponsor part of the event, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.”
Details on the raffle are to follow.
