Police Scotland, John Clark Motor Group and Radio Tay have teamed up to launch the Winter Safe Drive campaign.
The campaign launched today (Monday, November 30) and will run for ten weeks.
The campaign will run on Radio Tay’s stations to raise awareness and improve road safety. With the focus being on “who is driving you home tonight”, the campaign aims to encourage motorists to be safe on the roads this winter and festive season.
Chief Inspector Louise Blakelock, from Police Scotland’s Road Policing Division said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Radio Tay’s ‘Winter Safe Drive’ campaign and the John Clark Motor Group and welcome the drive to raise awareness about road safety.
“All road users can play their part in keeping safe on the roads by making sure vehicles are road worthy, by driving to the conditions and by not drinking and driving.
“Our road safety campaigns are not about giving people tickets, we want to make sure people arrive at their destination safe and well. Motorists should also think about the consequences of drinking and driving for example, is it really worth losing your licence over?”
Clare Clark, Director of Marketing and Communications for John Clark Motor Group said: “The John Clark Motor Group are delighted to sponsor the Winter Safe Drive Campaign as we understand the importance of this programme especially at this time of year when the conditions can begin to be slippier through either wet leaves on the road, snow or ice. We want our customers to feel safe on the roads and this awareness campaign will undoubtedly build confidence to not only cope, but ensure their car is equipped properly and that they are prepared to cope with any wintry journeys.”
Cathy Kirk, Station Director for Radio Tay, said: “Radio Tay is delighted to be promoting and delivering the ‘Winter Safe Drive’ campaign across Tayside and Fife, with our partners Police Scotland and the John Clark Motor Group.
“We were very keen to be involved so we could assist our listeners and all other road users in keeping safe on the roads during the winter and festive months.
“By utilising all three of our stations (Tay FM, Tay 2 and Tay 3) multiple channels we can promote the key messages of the campaign which are - making sure vehicles are road worthy by driving to the conditions, by not drinking and driving and getting to their destination safe and well.
“That way we can all enjoy a safe and happy winter and Christmas with friends and family.”
