Although The Retreat Folk Museum and restaurant in Glenesk have been closed for the winter, a great deal of activity has been going on.

And the culmination of all this is Sunday’s opening for Mother’s Day, from 10 a.m.

There will be a special Mother’s Day menu, and those visiting will have the chance to see some of the work that has been done during the winter, such as the ‘portrait gallery’ that has been created in the restaurant.

The paintings and drawings all have relevance to Glenesk, and the Trustees are always glad to be told more information about each of the pieces of artwork.

There have also been changes in the folk museum, and one of the most intriguing displays is a washing line, showing clothes of days gone by hanging up to dry.

Heads are being scratched about how to persuade the washing to blow about, as if it was outdoors!

After Sunday, The Retreat will be open the following weekend (March 21 and 22), then daily from March 28.
