Kind-hearted youngster Kira May Cherrington has organised a sponsored swim in aid of six-year-old Abbi Reid who has cerebral palsy.
The 10-year-old has organised the charity swim on Sunday (November 24) by herself with the money raised going towards aftercare and physiotherapy costs for Abbi, who recently underwent life-changing surgery to alleviate the symptoms of her condition
Kira, who lives on Glenprosen Street, said: “Lots of other people in Montrose have done things to raise money for Abbi, so I wanted to do something to help.
“I like swimming and no one else had done anything like this to raise money for her.”
A total of 12 children from Ferryden Primary School will swimming for an hour from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at Montrose Sports Centre.
Each child will be swimming a different length depending on their ability. Kira, who is a strong swimmer, will be swimming 15 lengths.
Her mum Karen said: “I’m really chuffed that Kira wanted to do this to help Abbi.”
Kira also took part in a sponsored walk around Montrose Basin earlier in the year to raise funds for Abbi.
