FIVE rugby coaches from Montrose recently completed the Scottish Rugby Union Foundation Coaching and Refereeing Course.

This SRU programme is a new initiative designed to give first-time coaches and referees an introduction to the sport. Containing both workshop and practical work, it has been designed to improve the quality of rugby coaching and refereeing at all levels.

Kenny Christie, Angus Rugby Development Officer, commented: "It is fantastic to see how junior rugby is growing in Montrose. Having five more qualified coaches for junior rugby is another great step in building a vibrant community club."

Montrose junior rugby coach and committee member, Duncan Campbell, stated; "Enthusiastic volunteers are central to our success so we are delighted to have more coaches joining the team. Congratulations to all five, we really appreciate their efforts."

Montrose Mini Rugby welcomes all boys and girls of primary school age and training starts this Sunday at Union Park from 10.00am. Please contact Duncan Campbell on 01674 830763 for more details.

Anyone from S1 to S6 interested in playing rugby should contact Gordon Cairns on 07903 114871.
