MONTROSE FC took their place in the Division Two play-offs on Saturday, leaving manager Jim Weir reflecting on a job well done.
"I'm delighted to achieve what we set out to achieve at the start of the season," said Jim.
"It has been a difficult spell for us in terms of suspensions and injuries.
"I have had to use a lot of youngsters. I looked around the dressing room at Dumbarton and thought I had taken down the U19s.
"A couple of our more experienced guys helped us through and I think a draw was a fair result.
"I want to win our last two games. We are unbeaten in six games and I want to continue that form into the play-offs.
"I will see how everyone is in terms of injury and the threat of suspension, as the most important thing is to have everyone ready for the play-off semi-finals.
"The guys who came in on Saturday, such as Stuart Cumming, Paul Stewart and Jay Stein, all did well and I thought Ross Gardiner was teriffic. The form these lads showed gave me plenty to think about."
It looks as if Montrose are going to finish third. With two games to go they are five points behind Stranraer in second and are themselves five clear of Arbroath in fourth.
It looks as if the Mo will play Stranraer in the semi-final, with the second leg away from home, but the manager doesn't really care who they play.
"Financially it might have been better to be at home on the Saturday, but we know we are as good as anyone in the play-offs.
"It is all down to the squads. We have the self-belief to take the next step which is to reach the play-off final and we will take what comes.
"This is an excellent opportunity for our football club as we have never been in the play-offs before.
"I hope our home support will turn out in our final game against Elgin on Saturday and in the play-offs, as we need their backing.
"Elgin have plenty to play for as they are going for the final play-off spot and there is no way we will approach the game lightly.
"My priority is Montrose FC. Who ever makes the play-offs is no concern of mine, I just want three points."
Chris Hegarty is available after suspension and the manager hopes Garry Wood might be fit enough to feature.
