Broughty United 5 Merpro 1

MERPRO travelled through to Broughty Ferry on league duty, looking to maintain their recent good run however their eight week undefeated sequence came to a crashing end as a result of a twenty minute spell of Broughty goals in the second half.

Broughty opened well and only alert defending prevented them from being ahead in the early minutes.

Smith somehow managed to clear his lines from an inswinging corner in the first minute clearing over the bar. Wilson then made an excellent point
blank save in the third minute.

Merpro eventually began to settle and McLean and Whitworth attempted long range shots in 11th and 13th minutes.

McLean had another good effort with a turn and shot in the 21st minute.
Mclean then had another shot past the post after being set up by Sellar in the 25th minute.

Sellar looked to have broken the stalemate with a curling 18 yard shot but the keeper managed to save well.

Wilson then made another good save from a long range shot in 40 minutes.
Broughty finished the half with a headed effort which came back off the bar.

Merpro started well in the second half with McLean forcing a good save from the keeper following a turn and shot in 48 minutes.

Robertson crossed for Christie to have his goal bound shot well blocked in 50 minutes.

Against the run of play Broughty took the lead with a 20 yard rising drive in the 52nd minute.

Merpro came right back and equalised two minutes later. Sellar sent in a curling pinpoint cross for Craig Christie to meet with controlled header into the top of the net.

McLean curled a shot just past the post following a Coull pass in 60 minutes.

Coull then showed some quick feet dribbling past a couple of players but his low drive was saved by the keeper.

With merpro beginning to look in control of the match, Broughty made several substitutions which changed the game.

Broughty went ahead after a close range shot in 66 minutes. They went further ahead four minutes later when Merpro failed to clear.

Merpro tried to push forward but were hit by another goal in 75 minutes when an attacker shrugged off Fenwick with what looked like a push and slotted past Wilson from 15 yards.

Broughty then went further ahead when another long ball pass allowing the striker to beat the keeper in 80 minutes.

Christie went close with a free kick which was fumbled by the keeper in the 83rd minute.

Merpro had claims for a penalty in the 85th minute following a hand ball.
