MCT lifted their first trophy of the season by crushing Golf Inn in a surprisingly one-sided Matrix Cup final.

Having lost in two finals already this season, MCT made no mistake this time. They scored a couple of early goals and there was no way back for Golf Inn.

MCT made the early running and in three minutes, Craig had a shot saved by Elgin. In 11 minutes, Elgin punched the ball off the head of Cargill after a big kick from Jamieson.

MCT opened the scoring in 12 minutes. Graham sent in a corner and Nayland McLaren headed home on the back post.

Four minutes later, Kevin Craig fizzed in a free-kick from 40 yards and the ball went straight into the net with no one getting a touch.

Golf Inn threatened for the first time when Jardine had a shot saved by Jamieson, then a Millar free-kick and a long range shot from Hood were also saved.

Golf Inn should have scored in 32 minutes. Jardine crossed from the left and Duncan put the ball over from seven yards.

Murdoch of MCT was booked for remarks to the referee after claiming Graham had been fouled by Hood.

MCT made it 3-0 a minute from half-time when Billy Candy latched on to a long ball and crashed a dipping drive into the net.

There was still time for Jamieson to be booked on the advice of a linesman in again claiming that Hood had fouled Graham in midfield.

Four minutes into the second half, Duncan shot over from good position.
Four minutes later, Coull headed down a corner and Winton almost touched the ball home.

In 62 minutes, Millar became the first Golf Inn booking for a lunge at McLaren.

A minute later, a McLaren snapshot came back off the post.

Candy was booked for dissent on the advice of the linesman and when Craig joined the debate, he became the fourth MCT booking.

MCT rubbed salt in the Golf Inn wounds with a fourth goal in 75 minutes. Buist clattered into McLaren to give away a penalty and Steve Coull scored from the spot.

Four minutes later, Ritchie found Craig and he cut inside a defender and scored with a low drive.

A Jardine effort was kept out by Jamieson at his post, then in 88 minutes, a shot from Hood came back off the post to emphasise that it wasn't Golf Inn's day.

A minute into added time, MCT added a sixth when Andy Stirling popped up on the edge of the box and made no mistake.

Golf Inn kept battling in four added minutes and Jamieson saved with his feet from Hood, turned a shot from Millar for a corner then tipped over a chip from Coull.
