Fenwick broke forward from midfield but his prodded 18 yard shot was saved by the keeper in four minutes.
Wilson made an excellent save from Sharp following loose defending in the 6th minute to prevent the opener. From the resulting corner kick Wilson made another good save tipping onto the bar with Robertson completing the clearance.
Milne had an opening but his effort went wide in 10 minutes. Christie then made a good break but his cross fell invitingly in the box with no takers.
Christie forced the keeper into a save with an effort from a long McLean throughball in 17 minutes.
Merpro had another good opening after Burnett set up Sellar but his shot went over the bar in the 19th minute.
Against the run of play FP's opened the scoring in the 22nd minute. A long free kick came into the box and was missed everyone. Wilson lost the flight of the ball in the glaring sun and assisted the ball into the back of the net for a fortuitous goal.
Petrie had a goal bound shot well blocked in 24 minutes. Christie had another snap chance from a long McLean pass saved by the keeper in 30 minutes.
Fenwick set up Christie but his attempted overhead kick went over the bar in 37 minutes.
FP's began to dominate for a spell but Merpro managed to get a free-kick on the edge of the box. Milne's first effort hit the wall and his rebound went just over the bar in 39 minutes.
Merpro managed to quickly level the score in the second half with a similar goal to FPs.
Fenwick hit a long free kick which the keeper fumbled in the sunshine and the alert Scott Robertson knocked home from two yards to make it 1-1 in 48 minutes.
The game went into a period of FP's pressure pushing Merpro back but unable to make the breakthrough.
Milne cleared off the line from a header following a corner kick in 68 minutes.
Burnett did well in holding the ball up for Petrie to have a chance but FP's defence managed to block in 72 minutes.
Wilson made a good finger tip save from a Smith 20 yard free kick in 77 minutes.
Merpro made a late attempt for full points with Robb heading a bending inswinging Sellar cross over the bar in 85 minutes. Murdoch then headed wide from a McLean free kick in the final minutes.
Merpro found it difficult to establish any fluent play and never managed to gain any overall control.
FP's had lengthy spells of pressure in the second half but yet again a resolute Merpro defence performed well but on this occasion were unable to create any clear cut chances in attack.
