SEASON 2007-08 was another mixed one for Merpro. In a very competitive Midlands League Division One, they finished third bottom and avoided relegation by a five point margin.
Remarkably, only nine points separated the team in fifth place from Merpro, who were twelfth.
Merpro chalked up home league wins over Dawson Athletic, Arbroath Amateurs and Lowson United.
They actually took more points away than they did at h
ome, with a 4-3 win at third-placed Logie Harp the highlight. There were also away wins over Dundee University, Letham Lads Club and Harris FP.

Elmwood finished as champions with Menzieshill also promoted. Relegated were Forfar side Lowson United and Wellbank.
Merpro had some fine results in cup competition. In the Midlands Association's most prestigious competition, the Bremner Cup, they saw off Logie Harp, Lowson and Wellbank before losing 5-4 aet in the semi-final to Premier Division champions SSPP, who went on to win the cup.
In the Scottish Cup, Merpro lost out to Premier Division Dee Club and in the North of Tay Cup, they lost to another Premier side, Tayside Fire Brigade.
In the Gray Trophy, a 3-1 home win over Arbroath HSFP was followed by a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Lowson in the quarter-final.
Right at the start of the season, before they had got into their stride, Merpro found themselves involved in section matches in the Tay Valley Shield. Four defeats from four games saw them exit the competition.
Merpro scored 27 goals in cup competition, giving them a total of 67 for the season.
Darren McLean was top scorer with eight goals, four of them coming in one game, the 5-3 Bremner Cup triumph over Logie Harp.
He was followed by Scott Graham and Craig Christie with seven goals, Graham Burnett and Richie Fenwick with six and Dean Sellar and Dean Emerson with five.
Other totals were: Sean Whitworth with four, Chris Petrie, Scott Riach and Chris Milne with three, Alasdair Duff and Gary West with two and Glanville, Stirling, Gove, Robertson, McLaren and Allan all with one.
