MONTROSE FC have switched Saturday's away game against Stranraer to Links Park, in an effort to get back into action for the first time since December 19.

The Scottish Football League have now given approval for the switch.

As predicted, Steven Tweed's men were idle on Saturday, when their Scottish Cup fourth round tie away to Edinburgh City fell victim to the weather.

The tie was redated for
Wednesday, but with the surface at Meadowbank Stadium still frozen, the decision was taken on Monday to postpone once again.

Tweed said: "Stranraer's pitch will be unplayable on Saturday, they also have burst pipes at their stadium. We put forward the idea of a switch and we will now go down to Stranraer on March 6 when they were due to come to Montrose.

"We want to get back into action. We are also desperate to bring some money in as we haven't played at home since December 12.

The switch will also prevent us having to go down there in midweek later in the season."

The Edinburgh City tie has now been rescheduled for Monday of next week and according to the rules, will be scheduled Monday-Wednesday every week until it is played.

"Meadowbank Stadium is council-owned and they have had enough problems keeping the roads clear without paying any attention to a football pitch."

Paul Tosh has agreed to join Montrose for the remainder of the season, a signing welcomed by the manager.

"Paul has been around, he is a local boy and with his experience he will help our other strikers."

The draw for the fifth round of the Scottish Cup was made on Sunday and if Montrose get past Edinburgh City, they will be away to SPL big guns Hibernian.

Steven is however refusing to even contemplate the prospect of taking his side to Easter Road to face the club with whom he played for eight years.

"We will hopefully have a game on Saturday, then play Edinburgh City. It is far too early to think about playing Hibs."

The fifth round of the cup is due on February 6 and if the manager is refusing to look that far ahead, the club treasurer must be dreaming of seeing Montrose playing in front of a big Easter Road crowd and earning some much-needed cash.
