MONTROSE Roselea begin 2010 with a mountain to climb if they are to avoid relegation back to the East Region North League.

Roselea languish bottom of the Premier League with only three points to their name at the halfway stage of the season and will need to go on a phenomenal winning run if they are to avoid the drop.

The Lea have drawn at home to league leaders Forfar West End and have also picked up single points away to Arniston and Fauldhouse.

They have been unlucky on several occasions with defeats by a single goal coming at home to Ballingry, Carnoustie and St Andrews and away to Tayport.

Worryingly though, some of their heaviest defeats have come in the closing weeks of 2009, 2-5 at home to Armadale, 1-4 away to Kinnoull and 0-5 at home to Blairgowrie.

Roselea need to find their form and win something like eight of their remaining 11 league games if they are escape releagation.

In a season which has seen disastrous results in the league, Roselea have tasted success in cup competition, winning the DJ Laing League Cup.

In their cup section, they chalked up wins over Arbroath Vics, Arbroath SC and Brechin Vics to earn a place in the semi-finals where they beat Forfar West End 2-0.

In the final, Roselea were up against Super League opponents Lochee United and lifted their cup by winning a penalty shoot-out after a 0-0 draw.

In the Scottish Cup, a fine 5-0 win over Dyce was followed by a 3-2 defeat at home to Super League top-guns Bo'ness.

Roselea's other cup games have seen first round defeats to Linlithgow in the East of Scotland Cup and Bankfoot in the GA Cup.

Roselea are due to resume their campaign away to Carnoustie in the league on Saturday, but with the big freeze continuing to make pitches unplayable across the country, the match is already a major doubt.
