Logie Harp 3 Merpro 4

MERPRO got back on the winning trail with an impressive win over a strong Logie side in an exciting match in Dundee.

Logie are pushing strongly for promotion and this was a serious setback for their aspirations.

Logie traditionally try to start at a high tempo and unsettle opponents and managed to take an early lead in five minutes with a disapointingly soft g
oal.

Logie had another chance in 8 minutes from a free header which went past the post.

Merpro began to find their feet and Petrie had a snap shot from 22 yards.

This was the precursor to an amazing 10 minute spell of incisive and clinical Merpro finishing.

Merpro equalised following good interlinking play from Burnett which set up craig Christie to run through and calmly slot past the advancing keeper in 11 minutes.

Merpro went ahead with another excellent move after Smith intercepted a Logie attack and advanced with the ball from defence before passing for Christie to drill home a low shot from 18 yards in 14 minutes.

Merpro went further ahead when Petrie played Dean Sellar through and he slipped his shot past the keeper from 20 yards in 18 minutes.

Logie were in disarray and stunned further in 21 minutes when Sellar scored his second goal with a low calmly executed shot after some fine interplay on the edge of the box involving Christie and Petrie to make it 4-1.

Logie regrouped and put Merpro under some pressure.

Gove somehow headed a clearance onto his own bar in 27 minutes from a long throw.

Logie pulled back a goal from the penalty spot after Smith brought down an attacker in the 32nd minute.

Wilson pulled off what was to be the first of many excellent saves from a header on the stroke of half time.

Wilson then made a good save from a looping shot in the 48th minute.

The match went into a period of stalemate before Logie eventually began to gain some dominance and pressed merpro back.

Wilson made a brilliant point blank save in the 68th minute, then Murdoch was in the right position to clear a shot off the line in 75 minutes.

Logie went close with a trundling prodded shot which came back off the post in 77 minutes.

Logie pulled a goal back with a speculative shot from 22 yards after some confusion in the Merpro defence in 79 minutes to set up a grandstand finish.

Merpro began to attack again and Christie had a good run but shot over the bar in 81 minutes.

Wilson pulled off another good save in 83 minutes.

Whitworth had a good opportunity from a Sellar corner kick to kill the game but his header went over the bar.

Logie pushed players forward for a final onslaught. Wilson made another excellent finger tip save in 87 minutes to deny them an equaliser.

In the final minute, Wilson capped a magnificent performance with another point blank save from a header from 6 yards to keep Logie at bay and win the match for Merpro.

This was an excellent win for Merpro displaying different facets to their game with some fast stunning interplay allied with clinical finishing in the first half to a dogged never say die stout defensive second half performance.

Merpro: Wilson, Murdoch, Gove, Milne(Edginton), Smith, Robertson(Houston), Sellar, Whitworth, Burnett (Coull), Christie, Petrie. Sub: Dunbar.
