Most golfers play all their lives and never get a hole in one, but Montrose golfer Alexander (Azzie) Paton has just notched his third at the age of 23.

Azzie's recent ace came on July 6 in a bounce game with Rae Strachan and Peter McGuone, when he holed his gap wedge tee-shot on the 140 yard third hole on the Montrose Medal course.

Two years ago he had an ace on the 16th hole of the Medal Course and ten years ago he did likewise on the 12th on the Broomfield Course.

"This was the first time I've seen the ball go into the hole," said Azzie.

"The 12th on the Broomfield has a hump in the fairway which hides the green and the 16th is 235 yards and I wasn't wearing my contacts, so I didn't see the ball go in.

"The recent hole in one bounced once and went in. Rae said to me I'd have to land it short as there was a following wind and I joked I would bounce it into the hole and that would stop it."

Azzie, who has a handicap of eight, is a member of the Royal Montrose. He works with Turriff, Fruit and Veg Wholesalers.

Azzie Paton is pictured with the club and ball which gave him the third hole in one of his golfing career.
