MONTROSE FC manager Steven Tweed has made his ninth signing of the close-season as he rebuilds his squad.

The Links Park boss has secured the services of centre-half Sean Crighton, who has been released by St Mirren after spending a large part of last season on loan at Montrose.

Crighton (20) who impressed during his loan spell, has signed a two-year deal.

The manager describes him as a quick and powerful centre-half and because he knows the player so well, there is no gamble with his signing.

Crighton played more than 20 games for Montrose last season.
The signing of Crighton follows on after the signing of Gordon Pope, Fraser Milligan, Sean Fleming, Jon Voigt, James Collier, Steven Coutts, Stuart Hall and Sean Anderson.

Tweed says he would like to make one more signing - a striker - and his squad for the season will be complete.

Pre-season training continues for the Montrose squad as they build-up for a testing pre-season programme.

They will be at home to Livingston on Thursday, July 16, take part in a four-team tournament at Keith on the weekend on July 18/19, then face Hibs at Links Park on Wednesday July 22.

Competitive action begins with a Challenge Cup trip to Inverness on July 25, then a week later there is another trip north to face Ross County in the Co-Op Insurance Cup.
