"That was an important win to keep our momentum going, as we want to go into the play-offs on a high," said John.

"There was nothing really at stake, but our management demanded a win.

"We now face Stranraer in the play-offs and it won't be a disadvantage to be away in the second leg.

"There is no away goals rule, it is just 180 minutes of football to decide who goes into the final."

Division Three's top scorer took his league tally for the season to 18 and his overall tally to 22 with his double.

"I was going to head the first one, but the ball took a bad bounce and I ended up knocking it in.

"They were not happy with the penalty decision, but it looked a hand-ball to me. Sometimes you get them and sometimes you don't.

"They equalised, but it was a great finish from Jay (Stein) to win it for us and a great ball in from John Maitland."

The on-form striker hopes some of the injured players will be ready for the play-offs and says confidence is high.

"We are a young team. Another young lad, Daryl Nicol, went on near the end and he almost scored.

"We are confident we can go up and we feel we have every chance."
Baird is out of contract at the end of the season and hasn't yet made any decision on his future.

"I signed for a year last summer. It is no secret that I'd like to play at a higher level, but we will see what happens.

"The gaffer and Kevin (McGeowne) have been great to me and I can't thank them enough."
