MONTROSE emerged from their home tie against Alloa with a point but manager Ray Farningham feels that they deserved a victory.

He said: “I think overall we deserved a victory but it was the same old story where we cannot see out games.

“With 10 minutes to go they scored from a corner kick which was the disappointing thing, we should be able to defend better from set play, it’s definitely a problem.

“We started well but Alloa are one of the better teams in the league and created some chances.”

Farningham also had praise for goalkeeper Sandy Wood who had his first game of the season after being consigned to the bench after a superb pre-season. He said: “Sandy was back but it was not the case that Michael [Andrews] has been playing poorly.

“It was just to freshen things up and have a change of voice at the back and he did really well.”

As for this weekend’s away fixture to Annan hopes are that it will still go ahead despite early weather warnings. Farningham said: “Fingers crossed that the game will still go ahead as I don’t think anyone fancies a journey down to Annan in midweek.”

Meanwhile Alan Campbell remains the only doubt with a groin strain.
