MONTROSE boss Stuart Garden says his side showed great spirit to come back from two goals down against East Stirlingshire on Saturday.
While the visitors took two early first half goals, Martin Boyle and David Gray made sure the Links Park men took a point from the Links Park clash.
Garden said: “I don’t think we played very well at all to be honest but we did well to come back and the boys showed great spirit and attitude.
“I don’t know why they played as badly as that. But it’s hard for every team in the league the week after a Rangers game, not just us, so there must be something in it.
“They have trained well all week though so there is really no excuse for it.”
Garden had words of praise for the two goalscorers for making sure it was not a complete disaster for the side. “To be honest it was a bad first touch for Boyle after some good work from Garry Wood but the finish was excellent.
“For the second goal it was a great ball from Terry Masson and then an excellent finish from Gray.
“I know David was disappointed to be left out against Rangers last weekend but he’s shown a great attitude when he’s come on.”
Now attention turns to this Saturday’s away day to bottom of the table side Stirling Albion.
Garden said: “Obviously we are going to go down and try and win. All the teams around about us in the league are playing each other so hopefully this will be a good time for us to capitalise on that.
The manager says that there are no more injury concerns at present and with Paul Lunan back in training and due to play in a Brechin City friendly as the Review went to press the squad should soon be back to full strength.
Meanwhile, the kick-off time for the Rangers match at Links Park on Saturday, March 30, has been switched to 12 noon as the game will be televised live on ESPN.
Hospitality is available for this fixture at the Park Hotel. Cost per person is £80. For more information please contact Glynis Crawford on 01674 673200 or email Glynis Crawford at firstname.lastname@example.org
