Montrose 3 Dundee West 1
Having won the league in their last game, Montrose Youth Under-16s ran out for the Chuck McGowan Cup final against Dundee West looking for the double.
The breakthrough came after 20 minutes with a well-worked goal that started with MacLaren on the edge of his own box. He fed Dow who curled a raking ball wide left for Stephen to chase. Stephen let fly and although the ‘keeper managed to push it away PETRIE latched onto the rebound to finish neatly at the far post.
Within 10 minutes West were back on terms. A Dundee forward found himself six yards out, on side and able to stick a foot out and redirect the ball wide of the ‘keeper.
A defensive mix-up saw PETRIE run clear to slot the ball confidently passed the ‘keeper for his second.
West struggled to generate any momentum and with 15 minutes left Montrose sealed the result with another well worked goal. Running wide right to collect a pass Petrie cleverly back heeled the ball into Ferries, who drove forward before shooting across goal from 25 yards and although the keeper got a good hand to it he could do nothing about DOW following in to provide a side foot finish.
