Eight needed - Fourdon hit dozen

THE FINAL game in League Cup Group B finally got under way at the third time of asking as Fordoun went in search of the eight-goal victory needed to secure the final spot in the semi-finals.

McCOMISKIE scored in three minutes with his knee. Two minutes later the lead was doubled when SIMPSON was played in by McLaren and finished well.

The home side scored their third when McCOMISKIE shot into the corner on 20 minutes.

There was a touch of fortune about Galaxy’s fourth when MURRAY saw his corner kick fly straight in. The fifth, however, was a thing of beauty as DUNCAN sent a free kick inside the post from 45 yards.

Half-time: Fordoun Galaxy 5, City Royal 0.

KEDDIE opened his account with two penalties in quick succession; after he was fouled and when McComiskie was up-ended.

City Royal pulled one back when a free kick was headed in, but the visitors’ Keddie set up McLAREN to score. McLAREN added his second before McCOMISKIE rounded the ‘keeper to complete his hat-trick.

Fordoun’s man-of-the-match KEDDIE weaved into the box and shot into the corner for his third before MURRAY slammed home his second.

City Royal got a second before they were reduced to 10 men.

Fordoun now travel to face Fettercairn in the semi-final on Sunday.

Fordoun passed up four great chances in the first 15 minutes with McComiskie the culprit on all four occasions. Scoring was delayed until the final minute of the half when McCOMISKIE scored with a looping header.

In 54 minutes a Murray corner was flicked on by Keddie and McCOMISKIE couldn’t miss from a yard. Galaxy sealed their first league win of the season when KEDDIE brought the ball down and sent a delicate lob over the ‘keeper.

In the final minute McComiskie missed a chance for a second hat-trick in as many games when he sent a shot into the barn behind the goal.
