Fine result for Roselea in Kirrie Thistle friendly

Montrose Roselea 4

Kirrie Thistle 0

Roselea started 2015 in business-like fashion with a 4-0 win over North Division Kirrie Thistle.

There was a dramatic start as from the kick-off Ross Mitchell bombed down the line and his cross was turned in for an own goal in five seconds by a Kirrie defender under severe pressure from the Roselea forwards. Mitchell then made it 2-0 with a good follow up finish.

Kirrie then had a good spell of pressure and created some chances and only the post and a great save from Trialist ‘keeper Wands kept them at bay.

In the second half it was pretty much all one-way traffic and Morgan Smith drilled a low shot from 22 yards to make it 3-0 before

he crossed to allow Calum Watson to head home. Watson had earlier blasted a penalty against the bar when Ryan Taylor was felled in the box.

All in all, a good work-out for the team and Roselea extend thanks to Kirrie Thistle for taking the match.

Roselea will start the 2015 Premier League campaign with trips to Dundee Violet on Saturday (January 10), and then to Arniston Rangers on the 17th. Both matches kick off at 1.45 p.m.
