Former Montrose FC player Aaron Taylor-Sinclair has joined Wigan Athletic in the English Championship three years after he played for the club.

Taylor-Sinclair is out of contract at Partick Thistle and has put pen to paper on a three year contract until the summer of 2017 with
the Lactics.

Twice voted the Scottish Football League’s Young Player of the Month, the 23-year-old has also been voted in the Scottish First Division’s Team of the Year in 2012 and 2013 as Partick secured their promotion to the top-flight in the latter campaign.

Latics boss Uwe Rosler said: “Aaron fits exactly with the type of player we are looking to bring to the club, young, hungry, dynamic and ready to fit into our culture.

“He has been a key player for Partick Thistle for a couple of seasons now and he has been on our radar for some time. We will give him the time he needs to become integrated but he has the potential to develop into the sort of player who can take the club forwards.”

Taylor-Sinclair said: “I can’t thank everyone at Partick Thistle enough for the help and support they’ve given me and I’m leaving some great friends behind, and a superb set of supporters that I’ll never forget.

“But when the opportunity to come to Wigan came up, I was very interested, and I feel this is the next step in my career.

“I want to meet up with everyone now, get working and prove to the gaffer that he has made a good choice.”

Taylor Sinclair joined Montrose in 2007 and started off his career in the Under-17 side before moving to the Under-19 team. He made his debut on the final day of the 2008/09 season and over the next two seasons he made 68 plus 8 substitute appearances scoring six goals.

Season 10/11 was really when the Blackburn based player came to the fore missing only one game. He had a spell training full time with St Johnstone and also picked up the Irn-Bru Young Player of the Month award for September 2010. A quite lad off the pitch, Aaron could play at either left wing or left-back his preferred position.

He moved to Partick Thistle in the summer of 2011 after Montrose and Partick Thistle agreed a compensation fee for his transfer and he signed a two year deal at Firhill.

A spokesperson for Montrose FC said: “It is great to see a player work his way through the youth system at Montrose and he goes with the best wishes of all at Links Park.”
