Four wins out of four - and fourth

Rothie Rovers 3 Johnshaven Athletic 5

Johnshaven made the long trip to Rothienorman on Saturday with the bare 11 players, but started the game brightly.

Johnshaven undeservedly went a goal down in the 17th minute. After conceding a needless corner, the set-piece was not dealt with by the away team. When the ball fell to the Rothie striker, it was sent fizzing into the top corner.

Johnshaven picked themselves straight up. Within four minutes, Hood came deep to collect the ball. He turned his marker and fed D. BEEDIE on the right. With the Johnshaven strikers struggling to catch the jinking winger, the young starlet decided to go himself and after cutting inside and beating three men, his powerful left-foot strike found the back of the net.

In the 32nd minute a Rothie effort from the edge of the box beat ‘keeper Taylor, to give the home team the lead once again.

Johnshaven almost got a goal back when a long ball from D. Beedie was knocked on by Hood to Smith, but his stinging strike was parried well by the ‘keeper.

Half-time: Rothie 2, Johnshaven 1.

After stirring words from the touchline, Johnshaven started the second half with a bang. In the 46th minute a free kick from Blease was flicked on by Crawford’s nether regions, a touch only left back DALGARNO anticipated and his left-footed low strike hurtled home.

In the 49th minute a long thrown in from MacLaren was flicked on by a Rothie defender into his own net after being put under some considerable pressure from Hood.

Two minutes after that came the goal of the game. Smith switched the ball to D. Beedie, who beat two men, cut inside and blasted the ball into the top corner stanchion to give the away team a two-goal cushion.

In the 73rd minute Johnshaven wrapped up the points. S. Beedie fed Hood who played an excellent through ball into the onrushing Kevin CRAWFORD, who calmly slotted into the back of the net with a good left footed finish.

Rothie pulled a goal back on the 80th minute. Taylor did excellently to tap over a header, but the corner was not dealt with so well and a Rothie player headed into the back of the net.
