Montrose chairman Derek Sim is looking forward to visiting Easter Road after the Gable Endies drew Hibernian in the League Cup.
Paul Hegarty will take his side to face the Championship title-chasers on Saturday, August 1 and the club chairman believes that game - following a Petrofac Training Cup tie with Angus rivals Forfar Athletic - gives the players a great opportunity.
Derek said: “The fact we’ve drawn Forfar in the Petrofac Training cup and Hibs in the League Cup gives players a great opportunity to show their value and that they can play against teams at a higher level.
“Hibs away is a great tie for us. It’s a tie against a team who missed out on promotion last season but will be determined to do so this season. League Two vs Championship, I’m looking forward to it.”
Meanwhile the club has just announced a new two-year sponsorship deal with local company Intervention Rentals Ltd for both the new home and new away kits that were officially launched at the weekend.
Working in the service sector, Intervention specialise in bespoke measurement solutions and replacement flowline equipment.
Established in 2006, the company is based on the outskirts of Montrose and also has premises in Laurencekirk.
Managing Director David Laing explained: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the local team.
“We count ourselves as a local company based here in Angus and we are pleased to be able to put something back into the community, a community that has been good to us ever since we opened up in the area.”
Sim added: “This is great news for the Club and I would like to thank David and his wife Jen for their continued support. I would also like to thank our other current strip sponsors, Murray Taylor (back of shirt) and Celurca Investments (shorts) for extending their deals for another year.
“This has been an extremely busy summer for us with many significant changes at Links Park but there is now a real excitement starting to build for the coming season.”
