Golf Inn maintain 100 per cent record

Fordoun had won every league game since their opening day defeat to Hillside, and Golf Inn had won every league game they’ve played. Something had to give when the sides met at icy Broomfield.
Darren Cruickshank made his Fordoun debut. With the wind at their backs the home side had the visitors pinned back during the early stages. Golf Inn took the lead when an attacker picked up the ball from a throw-in, cut inside the full back and sent a curling shot across the ‘keeper and inside the post from inside the box.
Fordoun went forward in numbers for a corner kick only to get caught by a classic counter attack. Golf Inn’s number nine ran from the half way line and produced a cool finish to double his side’s advantage.
Thirty minutes passed before Fordoun got a foothold in the game. For the last 15 minutes of the half they started to get the ball into the strikers and create some openings. When the best chance came Golf Inn’s number one made a great save from McComiskie.

Fordoun started the second half as they’d finished the first, winning a series of corners and free kicks in decent positions.
Golf Inn had a great chance to add to their lead when the ball broke from a tackle in midfield towards the Fordoun goal and the Golf Inn attacker found himself behind the defence. He picked his spot and rolled the ball inside Derek Anderson’s right hand post to score his second of the game.
Fordoun had a mountain to climb and three became four when a Golf Inn midfielder slipped a shot under the ‘keeper’s body.
The visitors had a consolation in the last minute when a push in the 18-yard box let N. KEDDIE score with ease from the spot.
