Johnshaven football round-up

JOHNSHAVEN have played a number of fixtures this season, and their first win was against ex-premier league team Kintore.

The final result was 4-1 to the east coast side, whose scorers were Steven SMITH, Ross BLEASE, and Conal MacLaren (two).

And when Johnshaven played host to their geographically nearest opponents, Newtonhill, nobody would have guessed how many goals were to be scored, and that the visitors would be the winners.

This game finished with 10 goals, and Newtonhill the 6-4 winners. The home side had a 2-1 lead at half-time, and in the dying minutes came close to scoring when a shot from Dalgarno went just past the post.

This game was the first to benefit from a change to the rules under a two-year experiment by the SAFA. Teams will now be allowed to use all five named substitutes during a game if they so wish.

Johnshaven scorers were Ross Blease (two), Shaun Blease and Steven Smith.

Man of the Match was Adam Comiskey.
