Johnshaven share eight with RGU

THIS was one of only three games played from the whole of the Aberdeenshire fixture programme due to the bad weather.

In the sixth minute Slavin played the ball over the RGU defence and S. Blease was quick off the mark but the diving ‘keeper saved his shot.

A minute later RGU were given a penalty for an infringement in the box which they converted to put them in the lead.

In the 14th minute a powerful shot from just inside the 18-yard box by RGU found its way into the net to double their lead.

A Johnshaven throw-in by Slavin in 21 minutes found Milne who played the ball back to SMITH. He hit the ball on the turn into the top left corner to pull one back.

A couple of minutes later Milne passed out wide to MacLaren whose first time shot went straight to the RGU ‘keeper.

In the 26th minute an RGU shot was blocked by the legs of the Johnshaven Trialist ‘keeper but the rebounding ball stuck in the mud and an RGU forward was able to run in and tap home from close range to make the score 1-3.

In Johnshaven’s next attack a Milne shot was pushed round the post by the diving ‘keeper. The resulting corner by Smith found S. Blease whose header went just by.

In the 34th minute a Johnshaven direct free by R. Blease just inside the RGU half was played high into the 18-yard box where Milne headed it back to SMITH who ran in and slammed the ball home for his second goal of the game to make the score 2-3.

Three minutes before the break RGU hit Johnshaven down the right. An angled shot clipped the far post and went out for a goal kick.

Almost on half time an RGU direct free kick was played high into the 18-yard box. The Johnshaven Trialist ‘keeper tried to push it over but unfortunately the wind carried it in just under the bar for a goal.

Johnshaven made a half-time substitution when one Trialist ‘keeper was replaced by another.

Three minutes in, a Smith shot was pushed clear by the outstretched arm of the RGU ‘keeper.

Soon after, a Johnshaven throw-in by Slavin found Smith whose shot went just over the bar.

Milne played the ball to D. Beedie who passed it out wide to brother Scott whose shot was blocked. The resulting corner by Smith found Carnegie but his header went just wide.

In the 56th minute Johnshaven made their second substitution when Comiskey replaced MacLaren, and six minutes later Stephen Stephen replaced Carnegie.

In the 75th minute Comiskey hit a powerful shot on the turn but it went straight to the RGU ‘keeper.

About five minutes later Smith collected the ball then ran a few yards before hitting a powerful shot. The RGU ‘keeper threw himself across the goal, making an excellent save.

In the 81st minute at the other end an RGU shot clipped the bar.

With three minutes to play a shot by R. Blease was blocked by the RGU ‘keeper. The rebound fell to COMISKEY who blasted home for a goal in his debut game for Johnshaven, making the score 3-4.

A minute later Milne played the ball over the RGU defence. SMITH, with a diving header, beat the RGU ‘keeper for his hat trick and to bring the score level for Johnshaven ensuring them a well-deserved point.
