IT IS a delight to know that we may cheerfully address fans who are rejoicing, rather than select phrases suitable for greeting the bereaved.

Saturday’s performance at Forthbank was excellent, not just for the three points, breaking the away-game duck, and winning at that ground for the first time in 10 years - it was brilliant because the players knew they could do it.

And manager Stuart Garden’s back-to-the-drawing-board team selection did the trick. Nowhere in reports of the game have the words ‘second-half collapse’ been seen.

The Gables Endies have a chance to show how they have really turned the corner by welcoming on Saturday the Elgin City side that demolished them 6-1 at Borough Briggs just a fortnight before.

There will be a strong desire for revenge in the Montrose ranks, and it will be no surprise if the outcome this time is significantly different.

We urge the team’s fans to turn out and cheer Stuart Garden’s men on. Remember - they are only four points off the top of Division Three!

And there is another good reason to visit Links Park, according to a BBC survey. Montrose offers the lowest-priced adult ticket, programme, pie and cuppa in the top leagues in Scotland and England - at £10.60.

Montrose chairman Derek Sim summed it up: “We’ve always looked at the size of the town in comparison to the football club and have keenly looked at the differences at the cost of our product for spectators who choose to come here in comparison to other clubs in the area.”
