IT HAS taken them until almost the end of the season but Montrose finally got their much coveted back to back wins.
A win against East Stirlingshire on Saturday with two goals from Martin Boyle and another from Garry Wood brought another much needed three points to Links Park.
Manager Ray Farningham was pleased with the result. He said: “We could have scored a lot more with the chances we created. Martin Boyle missed one in 35 seconds and that set the tone.
“Credit to my players as they came back from one down to win 3-1, but we could have made it a lot easier for ourselves. Martin might have had six or seven on his own.
“Garry Wood going on gave us a lift and he scored our second.
“At least we created chances, which we always do. We have scored in 30 of our 34 games this season.
“That is back to back wins and we will go to Elgin this week and try to make it three.”
Some more good news for the club this week as Paul Lunan and Jamie Winter renewed their contracts for another year.
Lunan said: “I’m happy about it [signing a new contract], I just hope we have a better year next year.”
Winter added: “I’m chuffed that it’s all sorted. We’ve been speaking about it for a while but with the games coming thick and fast it was just finding the time to sit down and sort it out.
“A big factor in me wanting to stay on was that we’ve got the makings of a good team and we’ve done good performances but the table doesn’t lie.
“Fingers crossed that it will be a better season.”
