Meigle are hammered by a rampant Merpo mauling

Merpro soared into the third round of the North of Tay Cup after hammering Meigle Vics 7-1.

An early chance for Merpro went begging before the hosts took the lead from the penalty spot.

It was soon level though when Euan Duff scored a spot kick of his own on 11 minutes.

They missed a couple of good chances to go ahead before Jordan Gammie got on the end of a low cross for 2-1.

Duff added a second on 35 minutes before Craig Christie hit a screamer of a free kick past the keeper for 4-1 right on half-time.

Merpro quickly resumed control after the interval and soon went further ahead.

Christie guided a long range effort past the keeper after Stephen’s effort was blocked before Riach went close.

Jordan Harrison leaped above his marker to glance a header in for 6-1 after a lovely Turriff cross.

And Duff was the man to complete the rout - and his hat-trick - on 55 minutes when he scored the game’s third penalty.
