Merpro moved into the Buckman Mackie Cup final after a tough encounter with Forfar’s finest on Saturday. One-all at 90 minutes took the tie to penalties and Merpro beat Lowson United 5-3 in the shoot-out.

The visitors started stronger and early pressure paid off with Duncan getting in front of his marker to head homet from six yards following a corner.

A quick break away required Glennie to make a brave save with Whyte clearing the rebound off the line in 15 minutes.

A Bruce long throw was well met by Scott Riach to stoop low to twist and guide into the corner of the net from eight yards for a well taken equaliser in the 22nd minute.

Penalty kicks arrived with Merpro completing a full house as Bruce, Craig Allan, Rausch, Paton and captain Duff slotted home to guide the Montrose side into the final against Dundee side St James on March 27, venue to be decided.

MERPRO: Glennie, Whyte, Ferries, C Allan, Duff, G Allan, Rausch, Bruce, Graham (Stephen), Riach (Turriff), E Duff (Paton). Subs: Murdoch, Robertson.
