MONTROSE FC suffered their worst defeat of the season on Saturday when Peterhead took away three points and a 6-0 win.
The Gable Endies were already down 3-0 by the break following goals from Ryan McCann and two from Rory McAllister.
But worse was still to come when McAllister completed his hat-trick, while Andrew Rogers scored twice to make it 6-0.
Montrose boss Stuart Garden said the result had been a real disappointment.
He continued: “I expected better of the players, and to be fair they expected better of themselves.
“They let themselves down, but it was just one of those days when nothing goes right.”
This Saturday, Montrose will travel to East Stirlingshire in the hope of regaining their previous form.
Garden said: “We are looking to bounce back against East Stirlingshire, but it won’t be an easy game - they have quite a good record at home.”
There appear to be no selection problems, as Jonathan Crawford will be back from suspension, and the boss is optimistic that Alan Campbell will be free of injury.
Garden said that it is important to look for positives. “If we had been told at the start of the season that we would be in fourth place, three points ahead of Peterhead, we would have said thank you very much.”
The following Saturday will see Rangers return to Links Park for the second time this season in a game which will be televised for ESPN.
