Montrose Youth FC U15 boys finished off a long, hard and successful season by finally winning the Dundee and District – G Taylor U15 league in their penultimate game of the season with a 5-2 away win against Forfar BC.
They completed the league campaign two days later with one final victory for the season, a comfortable 3-0 away win in Dundee against St James Boys Club.
The final two victories rounded off a fantastic season for the team in which their league form saw them win 23 out of 26 games, with two draws and one defeat accumulating a total of 71 points, which was seven points clear of the second placed team.
With only one league running at the under 15 age group, the league size was bigger than in previous seasons for them which in turn meant more matches to play in the season on the back of long runs in regional and Scottish cup competitions.
The league success has been special to the team after last season’s disappointment when they narrowly finished runners-up, missing out on the title along with a defeat in a cup final.
This season cup runs saw the team again reach a semi-final in one cup and the final in the other cup.
Unfortunately they came up short in the cup final but were able to put that behind them to push on with the league campaign.
Reaching the cup final this season has meant that the team have been able to reach a cup final every season since moving from seven-a side to 11-a-side three years ago.
In a total of 36 games for the season the team have scored an impressive 189 goals.
