MONTROSE Football Club could face the prospect of playing against Rangers this coming season after an SFL vote earlier today (Friday), writes Sarah McLean.
Member clubs voted 29 to one to allow Rangers into the SFL while 25 clubs voted in favour of the club going into the Third Division rather than the First.
The future is still uncertain, however, as further meetings will take place on Monday regarding whether Dundee or Dunfermline Atheltic will join the SPL. A plan for a complete restructure has also been put forward.
Montrose manager Stuart Garden said: “Obviously if this does go ahead as it looks at the moment it is a good thing for us.
“Playing against Rangers is something that I will look forward to and I know that the players will be looking forward to it to. It would also be of huge benefit financially to the club.”
