Montrose Youth’s victories against Forfar and Brechin

MONTROSE were awarded a penalty in the first few minutes, and SCAPPATICI easily converted.

Play quickly went to the other end of the pitch, resulting in Spark making his first save of the day.

HALL then scored from a Taylor pass to double the visitors’ lead.

The game quickly turned to the reds’ advantage when a free kick gave the Brechin number seven the chance of a great header into the back of the net.

Some scrappy play followed and Hall was taken down inside the Brechin box. Unfortunately Craig sent the spot kick just wide.

The ball quickly came back to the Brechin end and a mid-box scramble ended with HALL putting the ball in the back of the net.

A great run of play by Montrose was abruptly ended when Brechin scored from a corner.

But a great run by HESTER resulted in another Montrose goal.

Montrose made a good start with a great pass from Taylor to Brannan, then to Elder who crossed the ball into the box for HALL to head a great goal for his hat trick.

The home ‘keeper could not save a great goal from HESTER, who cut the ball into the back of the net.

Play quickly changed in favour of Brechin, who were awarded a free kick resulting in two corners. A second free kick resulted in Brechin’s third goal.

STEPHEN had a try go over the bar but he got his goal with a good run and shot into the top left hand corner.

A great run, and showing good determination, gave CRAIG his first goal of the match. The last goal came from a Broomfield cross to TAYLOR.

After a slow start Montrose were first to capitalise with a free kick after Honeyman was taken down.

The first goal came from a free kick to Montrose with Hall flicking the ball on and in by TAYLOR.

Montrose’s next goal came from another free kick. Scappatici put a good ball in to Honeyman and it was fired in the back of the net by HALL.

Montrose got their third goal with a great shot by HALL.

The game was halted when Sword and the Forfar number three collided. The Forfar player was treated for a nosebleed, and substituted.

Forfar’s best chance came when they were awarded a free kick which was saved.

Half-time: Montrose 3, Forfar 0.

After Hester was taken down in the box Montrose were given a penalty, converted calmly by SCAPPATICI.

Montrose had a few more chances, the best one when Scappatici made a clearance which went right into the Forfar box and hit off the bar!

Montrose were awarded a free kick just outside the box when Stephen was taken down. The free kick was taken by Craig and followed in by TAYLOR.

The final goal went to TAYLOR, giving him his hat-trick.

Time was almost up when there was a goalmouth scramble in the Montrose box but Forfar just could not get the ball in the net.

The game finished as a great result for Montrose, keeping a clean sheet.
