Slaemuir FC 2

Fordoun Galaxy 5

Fordoun made the three hour trek to Morton face Slaemuir in the last 16 of the Scottish Cup.

Kick-off was delayed by 30 minutes, as games over ran on the all weather pitch, and finally got under way at 3.30 p.m.

The visitors came flying out of the traps, pressing Slaemuir all over the
pitch and taking full advantage of the excellent surface to play some delightful football.

Two early chances were created for Dean McComiskie but Slaemuir managed to keep their goal in tact.

It looked as though
Galaxy would live to regret the missed chances when the home side finally created a chance when David Jamieson does what David Jamieson does and kept them at bay.

Mid way through the half, Michael Deans showed great determination to win and retain the ball on the left wing, eventually the ball was worked to Nathan KEDDIE, who finished the move to give Fordoun the advantage, which they retained at the interval.

Half time: Slaemuir FC 0, Fordoun Galaxy 1.

Fordoun started the second half with the same tempo that they had the first and soon added a second
goal when Dean McComiskie was thwarted as he rounded the home ‘keeper, only
for Kevin HECTOR to gather the ball and coolly stroke home.

The two goal lead didn’t last long and Slaemuir dumped a free kick into
the Galaxy box and eventually the ball was forced
home.

Fordoun regrouped
and went on to score twice more through Nathan
KEDDIE and Dean McCOMISKIE with Andrew Stirling and Darren Cruickshank’s dancing feet providing the assists.

Slaemuir struck
again when a free kick was curled into the bottom corner.

However, it was
Fordoun again who had the last laugh when Nathan KEDDIE rounded off his
hat-trick.

Fordoun’s first win on the road in the Scottish Cup secured them a place in the quarter finals where they will face Clydeside United, who overcame St Cyrus in an earlier round.

Fordoun: Jamieson, A Stirling, Mennie, R Deans, Cuthill, M Deans (Davies), Keddie, Thomson, D Cruickshank, Hector (Henderson) and McComiskie. Unused: Forbes.
