Black Abbot 4 Hudsons 0
THE CURRENT champions met the new champions at Broomfield last Thursday in a hotly contested match. The Abbot started the better of the sides and missed a couple of early chances to take the lead.
Hudsons came more into the game and produced an excellent save from Birnie in the Abbot goal. They then hit the post through Fergusson. Abbot steadied the ship and held on until the interval.
Half-time: Black Abbot 0, Hudsons 0.
The second half saw the Abbot burst in to life after a stern team talk. They took the lead in 50 minutes from the penalty spot.
Ten minutes later they doubled their lead when ROSS bulleted home a header from a corner.
ROBB should have made it three when he scooped the ball over the bar from two yards out, but he made amends when he slotted home from a tight angle after some superb play.
Abbot continued to dominate the second half and with 10 minutes to go Ricky MUSTARD smashed an unstoppable shot in the top corner.
Black Abbot 4,
Match abandoned, points shared
BLACK Abbot and Fettercairn completed their league campaigns on a glorious day at Broomfield.
Abbot started well with some great passing moves all over the park, but lacked the killer touch to score. Fettercairn stole up the field on 10 minutes to take the lead after several Abbot players missed the chance to clear their lines.
On 20 minutes an almost identical mix-up let Fettercairn score their second.
Abbot pulled one back when FYVIE scored from a pinpoint corner from Duncan.
Almost immediately Fettercairn scored again on the break to put them 3-1 up.
On 40 minutes Chris ROBB exchanged passes with Ross and Mustard before slotting home, and on half time the Abbot pulled level with a strike from FYVIE.
Half-time: Black Abbot 3, Fettercairn 3.
Abbot piled on the pressure throughout the second half but could only score one more through the much improved SIMPSON.
The game finished with 10 minutes to go when a Fettercairn player sustained a horrendous injury that left him with a badly broken leg.
The teams agreed to share the points.
