THE ANNUAL Montrose primary school football finals took place at Links Park at the end of term, writes Jamie McLaren, Active Schools Co-ordinator (Montrose).

The league finals are a culmination of the primary school football league which is contested between all primary schools in Montrose throughout the academic year. The final league standings were as follows:

Boys’ League

1 - Lochside A

2 - Ferryden

3 - Rosemount

4 - Borrowfield

5 - Southesk

6 - Lochside B

Girls’ League

1 - Rosemount

2 - Borrowfield

3 - Lochside

4 - Southesk

Results from the league finals

Boys’ League: Montrose Round Table Cup final - Lochside A 3, Ferryden 0; Shield final - Rosemount 4, Borrowfield 2; Montrose Good Fellowship Bowl final - Southesk 3, Lochside B 0.

Girls’ League: League Cup final - Rosemount 3, Borrowfield 1; League Plate final - Southesk 0, Lochside 0 (Southesk won 1-0 on penalties).

There is also a top scorer competition for both leagues: Boys League, Eggerton Top Scorer Shield - Dylan Swan, Lochside A; Girls League, Montrose FC Top Scorer Shield - Jennie Shanks, Rosemount.

The tournament was played in terrible conditions so great credit goes to the players and coaches for producing some excellent football.

Thanks must also go out to the sponsors who ensure this great league structure runs on an annual basis. They are: Montrose Round Table, Montrose Good Fellowship Fund, Eggerton Jewellers and Montrose FC.
