Have your say

ROSELEA had a good start to their pre-season preparations on July 16 with a resounding 6-1 win over visitors Parkvale.

Scorers were Urquhart, Hood, Mustard, Aitken and Trialist (2).

Cove Rangers visited Broomfield on July 19 and left with a hard-earned 3-1 win. Roselea showed some good stuff and a late penalty sealed it for Cove who were undoubtedly a class side also filled with youngsters. A trialist striker scored for Roselea.

Last Saturday Roselea went down to a stuffy Dyce side who made things difficult for the visitors. New signing Fletcher scored to equalise in the second half but Dyce created the better chances and won and could have added to their tally.

Last Tuesday Roselea travelled to Fettercairn to face the local Mearns United and despite a hard work-out went home 6-1 winners. A trialist striker scored three goals.

Roselea completed their pre-season with a tough away game with Lochee United on Saturday. They opened the scoring through Scott Riach. Lochee fought back and scored three with Voigt (2) and O’Leary netting on a tremendous Thomson Park surface. Managers Craig and Brand will possibly make another couple of signings before the season starts. A friendly has be arranged with Forfar Athletic FC reserves at Broomfield Park on Tuesday (August 9) with a 7pm kick-off.

Fixtures

Roselea kick off the new season with a home game in the DJ Laing Cup Sections v Blairgowrie at home on Saturday, followed by another home game against Arbroath Vics on August 13. The Section games are completed on August 20 with an away game at Forfar Albion.

The McBookie North League starts with another home game against Arbroath Vics on August 27 followed by a difficult away game at Dundee Violet on September 3. A free week on September 10 is followed by an East of Scotland Cup away game to Lochee Pegs on September 17. All kick-offs are at 2.30pm

Four new signing

Roselea have added to their squad by signing striker Stewart Fletcher (20), who was with Lowson United in 2010/11. The Forfar-based player has impressed in his trial matches and scored in all three bagging two against Parkvale. Jack Rodger (18) has signed from the Golf Inn Welfare side and the wide left player has made a great impact in the matches so far. Paul Taylor (19), who played with Jordan Reoch at under-age level including Dundee United, scored a hat-trick in the Mearns United friendly. He can play in a number of positions and is another welcome addition to the squad.

As reported earlier Craig Anderson has returned to the club from Arbroath Vics and if pre-season showings are to go by he is more than a welcome addition to the squad and is showing he has matured as a player.

Three players have left the club with Mark Fotheringham moving in the opposite direction to Craig Anderson by joining old club Arbroath Vics. Matt Miller has joined Luthermuir Amateurs, the club he joined Roselea from 12 years ago, and David Craig has also gone to Luthermuir on a loan deal due to work commitments.
