A young Spaniard who came to Scotland to start a life as an organic farmer is training with the Gable Endies at Links Park Football Grounds.

Pablo Abanto, who speaks excellent English and has been playing semi-professionally with a Spanish team until he changed country, met the Montrose team Thursday, August 6.

Looking very much the part he was instantly accepted by the gracious and friendly Scottish players and then undertook a typically gruelling training session.

Pablo, known by his nickname Camilo, said: “Football is played the same around the world, apart from a few small differences training is the same too.

I have coached schoolchildren in Spain so training exercises are automatic for me.”

Camilo has a degree in organic agriculture and is interested in pursuing this career however his first love is soccer and he jumped at the chance to join the Montrose players for training.

On Saturday, August 8 he accompanied them to Berwick-upon-Tweed for an away game.
