Trialists feature in Roselea’s first outing

Roselea opened up their pre-season friendly schedule on Saturday against Woodside from the Aberdeenshire Amateur League ahead of the opening Premier League fixture in August.

The home side opened the scoring with a goal from Dale Reid in 20 minutes before ex Roselea favourite Bryan Forbes equalised in 40 minutes.

A penalty in 75 minutes secured a good win for the Aberdeen side. Roselea managed to field several trialists all under 18 years of age to give them their first taste of junior football.

The team now travelled to Luthermuir on Wednesday with a 7.15 p.m. kick-off as they continued their pre-season build up.

Roselea have signed two players from the Amateur ranks with Andrew Tringham joining from Johnshaven Athletic and Scott McDowell from Arbroath Community Sports Club. Both players are midfielders.

All players from last season have now re-signed bar Danny Ross, who may not be available due to work commitments, and Scott Riach who may drop back to the amateur

There are a number of local youngsters on trial who have mainly come from senior clubs.

Roselea’s opening fixtures are as follows: Wednesday, August 6, Forfar West End (away) 7.15 p.m. kick-off; Saturday, August 9, Broughty Athletic (home) 2.30; Saturday, August 16, Oakley United (away) 2.30; Saturday, August 23, St Andrews United (home) 2.30; Saturday, August 30, Bathgate Thistle (away) 2.30; Saturday, September 6, Dalkeith Thistle (home) EOS Cup, first round, 2.30; Saturday, September 13, Tayport (home), 2.30; Saturday, September 20, Jeanfield Swifts (away) 2.30.

The first round of the Scottish Junior Cup, which is yet to be drawn, will be played on Saturday, September
