“Junior golfers are the future of the game,” said Sandy Barclay, Junior Convenor, Kirriemuir Golf Club, who explained that, thanks to Angus Council’s offer to local golf clubs of free travel to Montrose, over 20 junior golfers from Kirriemuir had attended the Junior Day of Golf. “It’s very encouraging that so many junior golfers benefited from the free golfing activities on offer at the Montrose 450 Junior Golf Day – and I know that Kirriemuir’s junior golfers found it a very worthwhile and enjoyable day.

“Junior golf development initiatives like this provide excellent opportunities for young people to play in golf competitions or simply pick up a golf club for the first time. This will help to ensure the continuing popularity of golf throughout Carnoustie Country, which, with its excellent choice of 30 courses in and around Angus and 450 years of golfing heritage, has to be one of the best places in the world to learn to play golf.”

Montrose 450 Junior Day of Golf was also sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline and The Round Table of Montrose.
