Montrose and District Athletics Club coach Colin Christie has shown that age is no barrier to competing successfully at a very high level.
Colin won the Silver Medal in the British Masters Decathlon held at Horspath Stadium in Oxford.
The decathlon consists of 100m, long-jump, shot-putt, high-jump and 400m on the first day.
On the second day of competition the events were 110m hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1,500m.
Colin was in third position after the first event and then moved up to second after the long-jump.
He maintained this position throughout the remainder of the competition.
A lifetime best performance in the discus, with season’s bests in the long-jump, 100m, 400m, 110m hurdles and the 1,500m, the latter by an incredible 22 seconds, helped Colin maintain his second place.
